Tennis Event raises £1725 for Save The Children Fund
The rain held off on Wednesday 7 September for the inaugural Ensors Charity Tennis Event in aid of Save the Children Fund. The event was hosted by Ipswich Sports Club and raised a grand total of £1725 for the charity.
14 pairs took part in the event that provided the opportunity for local businesses to enter into a bit of friendly competition whilst raising money for a worthy cause. The mixed double winners were James Potter and Tip Flory representing Superstructures in Ipswich who will now go onto the prestigious Grand Corporate Tennis Finals at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton on 10 December 2011. They will play amongst some of the top tennis professionals and celebrities in the country and hopefully go onto to bring the Grand Corporate trophy back to the East of England!
John Girling and Jason Dove from Ryan Insurance won the men’s competition and received invitations to the Adult Preliminary’s for the Community Tennis Tournament on October 29th. This day sees the winners of the men’s and ladies doubles from all over the country battle it out for a place in the finals on 30th October also at the National Tennis Centre.
Commenting on the event, Louise Rogers, manager at Ensors Chartered Accountants and County tennis player herself, said “We have been really pleased at how well this event has been supported and particularly pleased with the amount raised for Save the Children.” She continued, “I would like to thank everyone who took part in the event and, in particular, I would like to thank Ipswich Sports Club who provided us access to all their marvellous facilities and ensured we had everything we needed to make the event the success it was.”
Vicki Hearn, Community Events Fundraiser Save the Children UK, said: “Save the Children are delighted to have benefitted from the Ensors Charity Tennis Tournament and we would like to thank Ensors Chartered Accountants, Ipswich Sports Club and the players for supporting our work.
