Mark Upton and David Scrivener appointed as Administrators of Zog Energy Limited

Mark Upton and David Scrivener, both licensed insolvency practitioners with Ensors Chartered Accountants, have been appointed as Joint Administrators of Zog Energy Limited (Zog).

Zog had its headquarters in Martlesham, Suffolk and supplied gas to c.12,000 domestic customers and has unfortunately become the latest casualty of the unprecedented rise in wholesale gas prices which has made its business model unsustainable, and it has therefore had to cease to trade.

Ofgem, the energy regulator, has already appointed EDF as the new supplier for Zog’s customers through the Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR) process. This was effective from 4th December 2021. Customers can be assured that their gas supply will be maintained and that any credit balance they had with Zog will be honoured by EDF.  EDF will be contacting all customers direct as soon as possible. Domestic customers will also be protected by the energy price cap when being switched to EDF.

Current and former customers who are in debit to Zog should wait to hear from either EDF or the Administrators who will talk to them about repayment arrangements.

Ofgem’s advice to Zog customers is not to switch, but to sit tight and wait until EDF has been in touch. This will help make sure that the process of handing customers over to EDF and honouring any credit balances is as hassle free for customers as possible.
