Following the career path of David Fairbank

David joined the Ensors Saxmundham office in 2006 as a student, successfully completing his studies and qualifying as a certified chartered accountant in August 2011.

In October 2015, David was promoted to Manager of the Business Services department and in 2017 moved to the Ipswich office. Here we find out what drew him to Ensors in the first place, his dreams of ‘treading the boards’ and where his favourite holiday destination is.

Why did you choose Ensors?

Well, my original plan was to go to university when I left school and all was going swimmingly as I’d received acceptances from all of my six choices. But then my Grandad stepped into the picture. He owned a Health & Safety training company and John Matthews, an Ensors partner at the time, dealt with the accounts for him.

During one of his meetings with John my Grandad asked if Ensors offered apprenticeships. They did and the rest, as they say, is history!

If you had to do something different and money and skill was no object, what would you do?

I would love to be an actor – especially in an action film alongside such names as Liam Neeson, Christian Bale, Daniel Craig and Denzel Washington. I love going to the movies and have always been fascinated by the whole process of making films…it would just be great to be part of it. The right side of the camera though.

What’s the best place you’ve visited on holiday?

I’ve done a fair bit of travelling, exploring most of Northern Europe by car and taking in some of the sunnier Southern European countries as well. However, I keep getting drawn back to the lure of the Caribbean – namely the beaches, the music, the laid back vibe and, of course, the rum!

So far I’ve visited Cuba, Dominican Republic and Jamaica…so plenty more to go to over the next few years.
