VAT Domestic Reverse Charge - impacts for the construction sector
Whilst the rate of VAT may have changed over the years a lot of the underlying principals have remained constant since it was introduced into the UK in 1973.
However, the government have (following legislation introduced in the 2017 autumn budget) now passed legislation that introduces a VAT Domestic Reverse Charge (DRC) and this will have very significant effects for those businesses operating in the construction sector.
It will impact both contractors and sub-contractors and will become effective from 1 October 2019. More information on how these changes may affect your business can be found in our briefing sheet 'All change for VAT in the construction sector'.
We are also hosting two seminars in September that are designed to bring you fully up to speed on what you need to be doing in preparation for the new rules.
