Corporate Finance & Forensic Accounting Executive (location negotiable)

Location: Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Ipswich, Saxmundham

Ensors has an exceptional opportunity for an Executive to join its Corporate Finance and Forensic Accounting advisory team.  The role can be based at any Ensors office although the successful candidate will need to be willing to attend our Ipswich site regularly for training purposes. The role can be combined with an element of home-working under the firm’s agile working policy.  The role offers a fantastic opportunity for a first move away from general practice compliance for a recently or nearly qualified ICAEW/ACCA candidate.  The role will cover both corporate finance and forensic accounting work, but with a bias towards corporate finance work.

About the team

The ‘CFF’ team cover a broad range of work types including valuation, business sales, business purchases and litigation support.  The team are looking to build on a strong 2020 which saw them win a prominent award at the East of England dealmakers awards, as well as topping the Experian league table for most deal completions of any accountancy firm in the region.  Our team is one of the largest in the region dealing with deals and projects in East Anglia, London and beyond.

The client portfolio includes large corporates and substantial family owned businesses across a variety of sectors. Our clients are based locally as well as throughout the UK and internationally with a large proportion of our current pipeline involving cross border work in Europe and the US.  Examples of the types of work the team is involved in can be seen here.

Our corporate finance team advises business owners looking to buy sell or raise finance. We are also retained by funders looking to invest or lend. Deal values vary from £500k to £50m.  The team provides integrated due diligence/transaction services alongside corporate finance lead advisory work which allows for a varied workload.  Forensic accounting cases include professional negligence, employee fraud, shareholder disputes and expert witness work.

The role

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assistance on corporate finance transactions and financial due diligence;
  • Assistance on forensic accounting assignments;
  • Undertaking technical work and being available to provide technical expertise
  • Planning, supervising and reviewing work of more junior staff;
  • Producing draft bills for approval;
  • Monitoring performance against plan;
  • Ensuring technical excellence;
  • Assisting with internal compliance for areas such as anti-money laundering and client control;
  • Producing and providing copy/statistics on CFF activity for quarterly CFF Newsletter for internal circulation.

Marketing:

  • Promoting the firm generally;
  • Involvement in seminars and other networking activities;
  • Developing professional relationships with referral sources;
  • Developing the firm’s services.

Desired skills and experience

You should either be fully ICAEW/ACCA qualified, or within the last year of your studies for the qualification, with recent experience gained in a UK practice environment.  Although preferable, the practice experience does not have to be in corporate finance or forensic accounting work.  We would be keen to speak with auditors or other practice accountants who have some forensic/corporate finance/advisory/project experience, who are looking to expand their horizons into a specialist area. Exemplary levels of communication, technical accounting, Microsoft Office (including Excel) and report writing skills are essential, as is a keen, enquiring mind.

This is a diverse role for which a certain amount of flexibility will be required from the successful candidate: a pro-active ‘can do’ attitude is therefore a must.  You should possess a strong desire to learn and undertake relevant training.  The role will require a flexible approach, with the willingness to undertake some travel plus overnight stays away from home. A full clean driving licence and access to your own transport are therefore essential.

The role offers a great opportunity to gain experience within a prestigious team that has gained significant recognition. Ensors Corporate Finance & Forensic Accounting team recently won the Private Equity/Venture Capital Deal of the Year in the Central & East Insider Dealmaker Awards 2020.  Ensors also secured 1st place in the Experian 2020 Corporate Finance Adviser League Table.  See more here.

We offer an attractive salary with many benefits in a friendly working environment.  We have an extensive in-house training programme for all staff. Read more about working at Ensors here.

To apply, please send your CV together with a covering letter which includes details of your current salary and choice of base location, to hr@ensors.co.uk, quoting reference ‘cffexec’.  Please note, we are not accepting postal applications for this role.
