Signposting 'to make getting cover easier'

Signposting will make getting insurance cover easier for those who are rejected the first time, a group has stated.

The British Insurance Brokers' Association (BIBA) welcomed the announcement from the Equality Office that insurance providers who refuse to provide protection will have to refer the person to a signposting service or a specialist supplier.

Graeme Trudgill, BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive, believes the prerequisite for instruction will enable customers to find the protection they require.

He added that there is already a provision for insurance brokers to deal with risky clients and it was just a matter of knowing where to locate the information.

And BIBA's head of technical services, Peter Staddon, noted that they will continue to work with the government to make sure the proper systems are put in place.

BIBA recently revealed that it was "delighted" with the government announcement that British travellers who are involved in a terrorist attack abroad will be compensated.
