IFA sector waking up to online

New figures have revealed that independent financial advisors (IFAs) are increasingly embracing the web.

According to the figures from Unbiased.co.uk, a company that promotes the benefits of IFAs to UK consumers, more than two thirds of IFAs have an online presence, with investments and savings sites being the most common.

David Elms, chief executive of Unbiased.co.uk, said: "It is encouraging to see that IFAs are embracing the online world, but there is still much more they can do."

"The challenge for the IFA market over the next years is to further close the technology gap and utilise the online opportunities that are currently in the market."

However, he called for more to be done, as a significant proportion of the IFAs that are online are not fully utilising the web, despite the fact that many people now seek financial advice online.

The company further said that IFAs were in good shape to face any challenges in the near future, as independent financial advice will continue to be in the spotlight.
